Somehow we couldn't sit still after playing tourists for two weeks so Sunday we headed to the Santiago flea market called El Persa Bio Bio between trips. An English-language magazine did a great job of describing the scene (
http://www.santiagomagazine.cl/living/0023-el-persa-bio-bio-flea-market-done-right) so I will just add a bit of our our photos and commentary. The first thing that we noticed was that we were one of very few tourists there and we did not see anybody who may live in the same neighborhoods as the kids' schoolmates. We actually found a Mexican restaurant (really a booth) in one of the buildings which served the closest thing that we've had to guacamole yet. It strikes us odd that guacamole has not caught on in a country hooked on palta (avocado) and with an abundance of cheap and good tomatoes.

Not sure if this is going in or out |

A lot of the booths are indoors. Many were not open because of the February vacation |

Yes, somehow she found an orange tabby cat. |

$3 haircuts for men. A bargain! |
I bought my first souvenirs from a promotion sign place. I thought it would be fun to hang these in our basement. Jonathan got an old camera that uses 110 film and is disappointed that he can't find the film or a film processor nearby and Elisa bought some lovely make-up. It made me realize that we are entering a new phase. Two more weeks of vacation, three months of school, two weeks of play/travel and then we are US-bound!
